The Luminaries Collection Shoot

At Rolling In Roses, we have an ever-evolving edit of past bestsellers and favourites which we call the Luminaries Collection, where we curate a selection of designs from old collections and give them fresh contemporary styling, to let pieces be appreciated anew. I decided a long time ago that I wasn’t going to acquiesce to the fast-fashion model of churning out a new collection every season and discontinuing previous dresses, as it just seems so wasteful. I hate the thought of making older designs obsolete even though they might have stood the test of time, are still selling well, and still feel really current.

I wanted the shoot to feel more like a fashion editorial than a mainstream bridal shoot, so I decided to accessorise with black pieces for a more edgy, modern aesthetic. One of my oldest friends, who I lived with at university, is an amazing bag designer who makes beautifully crafted, British-made handbags, so I was delighted to have an opportunity to use her ethical pieces in the shoot; they’re gorgeous! Along with these, I chose statement jewellery from sustainable luxury jewellers Loveness Lee and Eva Remenyi, who use recycled and ethically sourced metals in their work, as well as a handful of more understated earrings from independent Irish brand Blue Meadow. The finishing touch was some killer sunglasses from eco-friendly brand Matt & Nat.

The images were taken by the lovely Craig of Silver & Light Photography, who was amazing, and shot on both digital and traditional film, as well as capturing some lovely video for us on genuine original Super8 film, which are just divine! Hair and make-up were by Florencia Doural who travelled up from London for the day, and the rest of the team were my wonderful lasses from the RIR crew, Ellis, Rebecca, and Sophie. It was one of my favourite ever shoots, very relaxed and lots of fun; we had a great soundtrack playing as always, and I’m thrilled with the results.
